FLUENCY READINESS ASSESSMENT WEBINAR #1 SESSION DESCRIPTOR:
This virtual session invites participants to explore what it truly means for students to be ready for fluency in mathematics and to deepen understanding of the important difference between fluency readiness and fluency itself. Together, we will examine fluency readiness assessments that highlight students’ thinking and skills across key domains, including readiness within 10, 20, 100, 1000, and foundational fraction concepts. Participants will engage with sample assessment items and video examples of students working through these tasks, reflecting on what student strategies and thinking reveal about their conceptual development. We will also discuss practical ways to use these insights to guide instructional decisions, differentiate support, and strengthen classroom practices that nurture meaningful and lasting mathematical fluency. The session will end with an open Q&A with the assessment creators.
